The front of this console is not a row of flat doors but a carved field: wide diagonal currents run across the walnut, turn into half-round hollows at either end and continue onto the side panels. Where the cut goes deepest the pale inner wood surfaces, while the untouched areas stay a darker brown, so the pattern is drawn by depth alone rather than by stain or veneer. As the light shifts, the same hollow reads sharp in the morning and soft towards evening. The four door seams follow the relief instead of interrupting it, thin lines swallowed by the waves, so from a few steps back the body reads as a carved wall panel more than as storage. The thick straight slab on top brings that movement to rest, while the plinth below repeats the wavy edge and settles the piece on the floor. There are no handles; the grain, the knots and the pale sapwood streaks are the only ornament. In an entry hall or along a living room wall, it needs nothing hung above it.
