The table carries itself differently at each end: on the left the top breaks over the corner into a thick side panel that takes most of the load to the floor alone, while the right end rests on one tapered solid wood leg. Across the waterfall joint the grain is never interrupted; the figured walnut rippling over the top turns the corner and keeps descending in the same direction. The panel's lower edge is not cut straight but hollowed into a wavy opening following the tree's contour, so a light void opens beneath the heavy mass. One long side of the top is kept as a live edge, its dark bark and indented profile in clear contrast with the clean cut opposite. Along that straight-cut edge a narrow clear inlay strip runs partway, gathering light as one bright line beside the solid body. The high gloss deepens the dark and pale transitions and the swirl around the knots. Balance is built from one end, not the middle, and in front of a seating group it reads as a mass standing on its own.
