The character of this chair comes from two materials set deliberately against each other: polished, heavily figured timber and mirror-bright chrome. The backrest opens like a fan, narrowing at the waist before flaring again, its upper corners lifting slightly so the grain reads across one wide surface. The arms sweep round from the back in a single flowing curve and finish in rounded knobs at the front. Four slim chrome posts carry the back and arms down to the seat, their smooth tapered shafts ending in cone-shaped collars that rest on the tops of the legs, turning the joint into something to look at rather than hide. That band of metal lifts the backrest clear of the frame, leaving it suspended above the seat. A gently domed cushion in woven cloth sits within the curved rail, while slender splayed legs taper to small rounded feet. Retro in silhouette and modern in the way it shows its hardware, it reads differently from every angle.
