Three solid slabs sit at separate heights on two carved wooden brackets, and since nothing reaches the floor the space beneath stays open and the room reads wider. Each board swells through the middle and narrows towards both tips, giving every tier the outline of a small boat or a long leaf. The live edge has been kept along the front, so the dark bark follows the honey-coloured grain like a drawn border. The brackets are shaped from single pieces of timber, curving inwards as they descend and carrying rounded notches cut into their faces. The lowest slab is noticeably deeper than the other two and takes wide-based ceramic pieces with ease, while the upper tiers suit slimmer objects meant to be seen. Growth rings and colour shifts run differently through each board, so no tier repeats another. Hung in a hallway, a living room or above a desk, it behaves less like storage and more like a narrow stage for the things you want in view.
