Small solid wood blocks in honey, russet, cinnamon and a walnut so dark it reads almost black are joined in diagonal courses that climb the twisting column. The shaft begins broad at the floor, narrows to a slim waist at mid height, then gathers again before it meets the shade, and the colour rhythm shifts as it turns, a pale block stepping forward beside a darker neighbour. Because the twist leaves a sharp ridge down its full length, the shadow travels with the light and the lamp reads differently from every side. Collecting small pieces this way brings sound workshop offcuts back into one body, so no two columns carry the same pattern. The base is a solid plate with soft wavy edges, passing the weight of the turning shaft quietly to the floor. Above it the generous cone is covered in coarse cream fabric, framed top and bottom by a thin brown band, spreading light upward and down. Without that plain surface to settle it, the movement in the wood would ask far too much of the eye.
