The back starts at one corner of the seat frame, arcs into a wide loop overhead and returns to the opposite rail as one continuous piece of walnut. At the crown it flattens and broadens, then thins on the way down until it is barely thicker than a leg, where the same line carries on into the curved rear leg. Because the centre of the loop is left empty, this chair never blocks what stands behind it. Lined up around a table, all that remains at eye level is a slim wooden outline, and the room does not read as crowded. The long grain follows the curve of the loop from end to end, finished in a mid-to-dark walnut tone with a low sheen. The seat is upholstered in sand-coloured fabric, slim yet softly filled, set into the frame with the rail left visible beneath it. All four legs splay gently outward and narrow toward the floor, meeting it at a small point.
