Made to be the quiet focal point of an entrance hall or a living room wall, this console draws the eye to its front before anything else. The pale outer edges and dark, tangled figure of the walnut are joined by black resin pooling between them, deep and shadowed in one place, mirror-bright in the next. The composition carries through all four doors without pausing at the seams, so with everything closed the piece reads as one continuous scene. The top and sides are left in plain, straight-grained walnut, a restrained box that balances the movement below. There are no handles; the doors open at a touch, and no hardware interrupts the pattern. Behind them the volume is given over to closed storage, easy to fill with keys and bags in a hallway or with serving pieces in a dining room. Polished bronze feet splay outward on sled-like curves, lifting the heavy body clear of the floor. It gives the wall something to look at without a picture hung above it.
