The character of this table lamp comes from a drum shade left open at top and bottom, so the light is split into two beams rather than contained, and the body stands inside its own glow. Shaped from solid walnut, the column begins broad beneath the shade, draws in sharply at the middle, then opens downward like a skirt. A high gloss finish gives the surface an almost wet depth, pulling the dark and light grain lines that run the length of the wood into view. The base is carved into rounded, wave edged segments, reading like a star or an opened blossom, with the curve of the column easing into each flute. A smooth cord carries a bronze toned inline switch, keeping the controls plain. The hourglass profile and fluted foot share the same design language as the other pieces in the Liza group.
