Every piece of Menton is built from a few clear geometric ideas. Each armrest curves downward to form a frame with rounded corners, and that frame is filled with cane, so seen from the side every seat carries its own cane window. On the armchairs the legs angle forward and back instead of dropping straight down; on the sofa the front legs run straight while the side frames slope backward to the floor. These angles give the set a light, lively stance. Slats run through the armchairs' back frames and the cream cushions rest against them; tufting buttons mark out the backrest cushions. Against the walnut-toned wood, the honey-coloured cane stands out even more clearly. The coffee table carries the same geometry to its top: nested rectangles appear on the wooden surface beneath the glass, while oval cane panels sit inside the end leg frames. It works on a terrace, an enclosed balcony or in a living room.
