Every panel across the front comes from the same walnut log, sliced into leaves and folded open so each one answers the one beside it. The figure runs diagonally over the end doors, converges on the three central drawers and closes there into a diamond of nested rings; that alignment is a joiner's decision, the result of laying each leaf in sequence. Honey-toned ground and near-black streaks deepen under the gloss finish, while the top is kept deliberately calm above all that movement. Nothing is handled: doors and drawer fronts read only as fine shadow lines, so the pattern is never broken. Carrying this densely figured case are two bowed chrome profiles that cross near each end and draw apart in between into an almond of open space, meeting the floor only on narrow triangles. The band of light left underneath cuts the long body loose from the ground and makes it look almost weightless. Against a bare wall, in a living room or a wide entrance hall, the Milet Console needs no company.
