At first glance the unit looks carved from one mass, yet it is a set of soft-cornered cells that share neighbouring walls and grow out of one another. Across three rows the near-equal openings shift by half a step, so no vertical line runs unbroken end to end and the surface reads as a woven honeycomb rather than a plain grid. The top edge steps rather than running level, so the silhouette never hardens into a plain rectangle. Thick solid wood panels are turned with radii generous enough to leave no corner at all, and the panel thickness stays visible at the mouth of every opening. The mid-dark walnut tone gains depth under a matt satin finish, its wavy grain darkening in places. With the back left entirely open, the piece can lean on a wall or move into the middle of a room, letting light pass between the cells so two areas are separated without either going dim. Standing on the floor without legs, it lets books and small objects spread across openings set at different heights.
