The front of this console is not one panel but a stack of horizontal bands in two woods: pale honey timber full of knots and restless figure, set against belts of dark brown walnut. The darker band crosses the body just above mid height and follows the tree's own undulating edge rather than a ruled line; because the front is split into three vertical sections, the band shifts a little at each joint. That same dark tone returns at the base as a shallow curved plinth that lifts the volume off the floor. None of the section faces are flat; each bows gently outward, so seen from the side the front draws a soft wave. Within each section, hairline reveals split the face into stacked horizontal panels, and there are no pulls or knobs, which leaves the grain direction and the boundary between the two tones as the only things guiding the eye. Above, a thick solid top overhangs slightly. In a living room or a wide hallway, the first thing anyone looks at will be that seam where light meets dark.
