The character of this armchair comes from one continuous line of wood you can trace with a fingertip: it starts at the side frame of the backrest, sweeps forward in a wide, easy curve, rolls down at the tip and reaches the floor as the front leg without a break. The thick round section keeps its girth along the whole route, and the grain under the polish follows the same path. The back frame speaks the opposite language, wrapping the upholstery from outside in an angular zigzag that flares gently outward at head height. The long, reclined back cushion sits suspended inside that frame, and the thin gap between them lightens the whole body. The upholstery is a sand-toned leather with a suede-nubuck surface whose dusty matte finish balances the gloss of the timber, and a piped seam along the edge draws out the volume of the deep seat. The rear legs curve outward and taper to a point, answering the wide opening at the front. A piece you look at for a while before you sit down.
